New GM Electric Pickup Coming in 2021

General Motors CEO Mary Barra recently revealed that the company is adding a GM electric pickup to its lineup. This new truck is currently set to debut in the fall of 2021 as a revolutionary option for truck enthusiasts wanting to save money on fuel and be conscious of the environment.

The truck is expected to be offered as either a GMC Sierra 1500 trim or a Chevrolet Silverado 1500 trim. According to a Reuters interview, Barra shared, “It will be a very capable truck, I’m pretty excited about it.”

Apart from that, we don’t know much about this truck so far, but it will be a welcome addition to the GM lineup, which offers the Chevrolet Bolt EV as its only electric vehicle in the U.S.

In addition to introducing this new electric pickup, GM is also launching an all-electric GMC HUMMER EV. This powerful model will reach an impressive 1,000 horsepower and 11,500 lb-ft of torque, while also producing zero emissions. The repurposed Detroit-Hamtramck plant will be producing the upcoming GM electric vehicles and their components moving forward.

At Stokes Automotive in Clanton, Alabama, we proudly offer an array of Chevrolet and GMC models, and we look forward to adding the new trucks to our inventory. If you’re interested in learning about the models currently in our inventory or the new models set to arrive on our lot, give us a call to speak with a staff member.

Chevrolet NASCAR Team Off to a Great Start in 2020 Season

Even though the NASCAR season is just kicking off, the team Chevrolet team is already flexing its proverbial muscles on the track. In the first three races, the team secured one outright win and claimed numerous spots in the top ten.

The second race of the NASCAR Xfinity Series saw driver R. Sieg peak at fourth place, but seven other Chevrolet drivers finished in the top 10, with team members also claiming spots 11-15. The following race in Fontana, California, was even more impressive.

Alex Bowman won by a landslide and was accompanied in the top 10 by three other Chevy racers in third, fourth and seventh places. If that’s not enough, the team collectively led 127 laps out of 200, which amounts to more than 60 percent of the total race.

This represents a significant improvement over last year’s NASCAR season, in which Chevy didn’t pull in a win until the 10th race. Some people have speculated that the team’s impressive performance is due in part to the new Camaros that the team drives. In an interview following the race, Bowman stated, “I think the new body has helped us a lot, the new Camaro. Any change we make, we make for a reason, and Chevy did a good job with that car.”

It may not have the high-performance tweaks as Alex Bowman’s race-winning ride, but you can get behind the wheel of your own 2020 Camaro right here at Stokes Automotive.

GM Reimagines the Hummer as an EV Truck

When you think of the gargantuan Hummer that roamed the streets a decade ago, you don’t associate it with fuel efficiency. However, General Motors is prepared to change those perceptions with the upcoming release of a brand-new Hummer.

This latest iteration of the Hummer will be an EV truck.

The decision to remake the Hummer as an all-electric pickup truck certainly makes sense. After all, electric vehicles and trucks are two of the fastest-growing vehicle segments in the industry.

The new Hummer won’t be any less powerful than its predecessor. In fact, with a reported power output of nearly 1,000 horsepower thanks to its advanced electric motors, the new Hummer EV may be even more powerful than the previous iteration of the Hummer.

GM has already begun advertising for this new Hummer EV. These advertisements, which feature sports legend LeBron James, focus on the silent power that the Hummer EV is able to produce. Instead of featuring bombastic sounds and songs, these TV spots are mostly silent.

As for when you can expect this Hummer EV to join the GM lineup, it should be making its way to the GMC family in 2021. We at Stokes Automotive are certainly looking forward to its eventual arrival and will have it in stock soon.

Check Out These 2020 GMC Sierra HD Improvements

The 2020 GMC Sierra HD is a beastly truck that unites handsome design, intelligent technology, and plenty of muscle. In an interview with Sierra HD Chief Engineer Marissa West, we learned more about the impressive capabilities of this new and improved heavy duty pickup.

Bigger and better

It’s hard to improve on the GMC Sierra HD, but the next-gen model is “the most capable heavy-duty pickup for trailering in the segment,” according to West. Each dual-rear-wheel model of the truck manages a maximum towing capacity of over 30,000 pounds. Go with the gooseneck, and you’ll enjoy a maximum of 35,000 pounds.

Staying cool

With so many hardworking components, the Sierra HD needs plenty of ways to safeguard its engine. That’s why West and her crew outfitted the truck with a huge fan and radiator, along with a dual-path air intake system. The Sierra HD also boasts the new “engine after-run” feature, which helps the vehicle cool down more gradually, preventing unnecessary wear and tear from sharp temperature changes.

High-tech trailering

You’ll enjoy even more confidence when towing thanks to a huge array of trailering features. The Sierra HD offers a suite of 15 cameras, which can work in concert to let you see through your trailer. Plus, you can opt for the Rear Camera Mirror, ProGrade™ Trailering, and an in-vehicle trailering app to make towing even easier.

The train will speed you through beautiful fall foliage and deliver you to the Pumpkin Patch. There, families can indulge in all the joys of the season with bounce houses, hay rides, and a corn maze. Don’t forget to pick your pumpkins from the patch before you head home. There are plenty of exhibits to explore once back at the depot, including real life railroad equipment and the working Signal Garden.

More fun is on the way at Christmastime with the North Pole Express. Some travelers may even get a chance to see Santa on the train with them. There are always events going on at the Heart of Dixie Railroad Museum so check back often. Sometimes even Thomas the Tank Engine stops by for a visit.

We at Stokes Automotive love cars, but we also appreciate the character and heritage of trains. That’s why we recommend you take your family to the Heart of Dixie Railroad Museum.

Fall Maintenance Tips to Prepare Your Car for Cold, Rainy Weather

To keep your car in excellent condition, it’s important to provide seasonal upkeep. As summer comes to an end, use these fall maintenance tips to get your vehicle ready for the cooler weather.

Replace Wiper Blades

New wiper blades are inexpensive and easy to replace, and they make a huge difference in visibility and safety. If it’s been a while since you replaced your car’s wiper blades, take care of them now in anticipation of the fall showers.

Check Tires

When was the last time you had your car’s tires replaced? If you’re not sure, it’s definitely time to inspect their condition. Look to see that the tread is still deep and that there are no signs of wear, like cracks or bulges. If there are, it’s time to get new tires for your car in order to ensure good traction and safe handling.

Check Fluids

Your car needs an oil change three or four times a year, so the start of a new season is a great time to do it. Bring your car to Stokes Automotive and let our team change your car’s oil and filter. This improves efficiency and helps protect your car’s engine from damage. While we’re there, we can check levels on other important fluids, like coolant, transmission, brake, and steering fluid.

If your car needs its oil changed or tires replaced, bring it to Stokes Automotive.
