General Motors CEO Mary Barra recently revealed that the company is adding a GM electric pickup to its lineup. This new truck is currently set to debut in the fall of 2021 as a revolutionary option for truck enthusiasts wanting to save money on fuel and be conscious of the environment.
The truck is expected to be offered as either a GMC Sierra 1500 trim or a Chevrolet Silverado 1500 trim. According to a Reuters interview, Barra shared, “It will be a very capable truck, I’m pretty excited about it.”
Apart from that, we don’t know much about this truck so far, but it will be a welcome addition to the GM lineup, which offers the Chevrolet Bolt EV as its only electric vehicle in the U.S.
In addition to introducing this new electric pickup, GM is also launching an all-electric GMC HUMMER EV. This powerful model will reach an impressive 1,000 horsepower and 11,500 lb-ft of torque, while also producing zero emissions. The repurposed Detroit-Hamtramck plant will be producing the upcoming GM electric vehicles and their components moving forward.
At Stokes Automotive in Clanton, Alabama, we proudly offer an array of Chevrolet and GMC models, and we look forward to adding the new trucks to our inventory.
